After an engaging discussion with lawyers at the last OCSI Dialogues, it is the pleasure of The President, Oxford and Cambridge Society of India on behalf of the Oxford and Cambridge Society of India to invite you to the next edition of OCSI Dialogues – Career Experiences at International and Multilateral Organisations on Tuesday, 27th February 2018 at 7 pm at Private Dining Hall, India International Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
Please join us for an evening of anecdotes, stories and conversations with some of our young members who have built successful careers working in India and abroad with international and multilateral organisations. They will discuss the challenges, trails and tribulations they have faced during their journey. Drinks will be served during this event at no charge.
The speakers for the evening are Mandakini Kaul (World Bank), Nabila Jamshed (United Nations), Nayana Bose (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) and Shweta Bahri (Oxford Policy Management). Ravi Bhoothalingam, ex-President of the OCSI, has kindly agreed to moderate the discussion.
Information on the Speakers:
Mandakini Kaul: Mandakini is Regional Cooperation Adviser for South Asia based in the World Bank’s New Delhi office. She leads the implementation of Bank’s South Asia Regional Integration strategy and program on regional connectivity, trade and gender. She has been working in the development field for over 20 years, and among other things, was the focal point for the World Bank’s work in Bihar and Rajasthan. She co-led the World Bank’s flagship report India Systematic Country Diagnostic, which will be published later this month. Mandakini has read Economics at St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, and at the University of Cambridge.
Nabila Jamshed: Nabila is an international security and global governance professional currently working with the United Nations. She has previously served as a political analyst with multilateral agencies and the UN in The Hague, in India, and with the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan during the conflict of 2016 and also worked with UNESCO and ADB. With a Masters degree in Global Governance and Diplomacy from the University of Oxford, Nabila’s career in the UN began with the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, where she worked as a Political Affairs Specialist. She has delivered TEDx and Hague Talks on the business of war and written columns on preventing conflicts, crisis response, and outlawing weapons of mass destruction.
Nayana Bose: Nayana is a communications officer, with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). Currently working out of New Delhi for UNHCR’s Headquarters in Geneva, Nayana has had challenging international postings in Kabul, Afghanistan and Ankara, Turkey. Her work takes her deep into the field and in Turkey, this included several missions to the Turkey–Syria border, listening to and documenting the lives of refugees from Syria. Other international assignments include an emergency deployment to the Egypt-Libya border. Nayana began her career with UNHCR in New Delhi, working here for more than a decade. Prior to that, she has worked with the BBC in London; as well as India Today and the Ford Foundation in New Delhi. She did her M.Phil from the University of Cambridge.
Shweta Bahri: Shweta is an education and social protection specialist working with Oxford Policy Management (OPM). She has worked across the policy cycle on policy design, implementation and evaluation across various projects in India, Kenya and Nigeria. Her work has included providing technical assistance and capacity building support to national and state governments. Prior to OPM, Shweta interned at UNCTAD in Geneva and Luthra & Luthra law offices in Delhi. She holds a Masters in Public Administration from the LSE and an undergraduate degree in Land Economy from the University of Cambridge.
