The Oxbridge Lecture Series – 1 April 2016

The Oxford and Cambridge Society of India, in association with the British Council, is launching the Oxbridge Lecture Series. (Registration is mandatory: email to mail@oxbridgeindia.com)

 

We are delighted to invite you for the first lecture, to be delivered by Prof. Alex David Rogers on 1st April 2016 in New Delhi.

 

Prof. Alex David Rogers, Director of the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development at the University of Oxford, in his lecture ‘Digging Deep: Solutions from the Seabed and the Search for Sustainable Diets’, will discuss the most recent developments of how we use resources from the sea and the land. Prof. Rogers has recently resurfaced from more than 3000m below sea level and will discuss the newest discoveries relating to precious metals on the Indian Ocean floor and how life sustains itself in the darkest depths of the oceans.

 

Following Prof. Rogers, Dr. Alfred Gathorne-Hardy will explain why bringing together different actors in the food system, from co-operatives to multinationals and nutritionists to psychologists – create moments of breakthrough and understanding in the movement towards sustainable global nutrition.

 

The speakers will be introduced by Dr. Alice Prochaska, Principal of Somerville College.
