On behalf of the committee, Mr. Uday Walia, President, The Oxford and Cambridge Society of India of the society is very excited to inform you that Professor Stephen J Toope, the 346th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, will be in India in February and we are very privileged to be hosting an event for him on 20 February 2020 from 5 – 7pm. The event will most likely be held at the Delhi Gymkhana Club – details will be provided in due course. The event will, at least initially, only be open to Cambridge alumni members of the Society.
The Executive Committee is very grateful to Anish Dayal, who is our Society’s representative to the University of Cambridge, for convincing the university that we really are an important part of their Indian outreach programme! We all owe him a drink! In my enthusiasm though, despite Anish’s quizzically raised eyebrows, I declared (rather recklessly) that the Society would host the event. As you know, we don’t really have the finances to host and fund our events and depend on contributions from those that attend these events. Since we cannot charge for this event and hope to be able to host more such events for Oxford or Cambridge in the future, I would like to create a corpus for such events (and other Oxford or Cambridge related events) and would be grateful for any contributions from you for this corpus. It will not be used to fund any scholarships as that is a separate corpus, and will be used by the Executive Committee for these and other Society events.
